Community Building

Day 173…

Another snow day.  Several DVDs and good books, enough food and hot chocolate.  I’m good.

And plenty of time to process yesterday’s classroom visits and twenty-five assignments from the elementary interns.  I want to encourage the positive reflection and assessment they are sharing.  I want our seminar to be an example of the safe creative, learning community they want in their own classes.

When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability… To be alive is to be vulnerable.         Madeleine L’Engle

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

  1. I’m a community builder from way back. I live in a small rural community of three couples.
    Here’s two quotes I like:

Best-selling author, M. Scott Peck, says: “There can be no vulnerability without risk; there can be no community without vulnerability; there can be no peace, and ultimately no life, without community.” (1)

And, Australia’s much loved cartoonist philosopher, Michael Leunig says,
“Love one another and you will be happy. It’s as simple and as difficult as that.”

Doesn’t get a simpler than that.

  2. great quotes…thanks
